To help promote good health and limit the impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19), Fairfield, Northcote, Preston and Reservoir libraries will be closed until further notice.


Click and Collect

The Victorian government has announced that metropolitan Melbourne will return to stage 3 restrictions from midnight Wednesday 8 July. In line with these restrictions, Darebin Libraries' Click and Collect service will be suspended from 5.45pm Wednesday 8 July, until further notice. 


While our branches are closed:

  • Current loans will be extended to Monday 14 September or later.
  • Allocated reservations will be extended to Monday 14 September or later.
  • No overdue fines will accrue.
  • Library return chutes remain open 24/7 at all libraries.
  • Our Digital Library is always open and features a wide range of resources including eBooks, audiobooks, films, games and educational activities.
  • Our Facebook page features our online events program which includes our special events along with regular favourites like Rhyme Time and Storytime.

When will you reopen?

While our libraries remain closed to the public, we are now offering our special events  and lots of our regular events  online. 

Are there fines at the moment?
No overdue fines will accrue at this time.

How can I return my items? 
Library return chutes remain open 24/7 at all library branches. 

When can I reserve an item? 
Reservations are currently unavaible, but will resume when our Click and Collect service resumes. 

Are meeting rooms available?
Meeting rooms are currently unavailable due to the temporary closure of the libraries. For updates, please find us on Facebook or check our website. 

When will library programs, like Storytime and Rhyme Time, resume?
In-person events, including children's programs, Conversation Café and author talks will continue to be delivered online only until further notice. Click here for more information about our online events.
