  • Northcote Proclamation

    Northcote Proclamation Event

    When: From 10:00 AM on 1 Oct 2014, to 8:00 PM on 31 Oct 2014
    Location: Northcote Library LibArt Room and Northcote Town Hall

    May 2014 marked the 100th anniversary of the Proclamation of Northcote as a city.

    In 1914, thousands lined the streets of Northcote to watch as dignitaries arrived in a cavalcade of cars and the State Governor, Sir Arthur Stanley, read the Proclamation outside the Northcote Town Hall.

    Throughout October, to celebrate History Week, Northcote Library and Northcote Town Hall will exhibit local history items including images and newspapers from the year of the Proclamation.

    The Art of Anxiety at Work, Rest and Play with Bev Aisbett

    Come along to this Mental Health Week event to learn more about anxiety and how you can better manage your anxiety levels. 

    The session will cover:
     
    • Anxiety triggers
    • How to develop healthier thinking patterns
    • How to better manage stressful situations
     
    Bev Aisbett is the author and illustrator of ten self-help books on overcoming anxiety, depression and allied conditions; most notably Living with IT and Taming the Black Dog.

    Bev is also a trained counsellor who has been presenting her recovery program and public lectures since 1998.

  • Diwali: Festival of Lights

    Diwali: Festival of Lights

    Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is an ancient Hindu festival which signifies the triumph of light over spiritual darkness and good over evil. 

    Join us for this joyous celebration of life at this family friendly event. 

    A Diwali inspired craft activity for kids will be followed by a colourful dance performance by the Bollydazzlers.

    We will begin with a Diwali inspired craft activity for kids at 7pm (bookings are required) and then everyone is welcome to come for the colourful dance performance by the Bollydazzlers which starts at 7.30pm.
